Growing up in a distant suburb of Chicago, TR Irwin regularly worked in his family's small business. Gaining entrepreneurial insight from his father, TR learned the value a small business brings to its community, the value of hard work and importance of investing and managing capital wisely.
Since graduating in 1984, TR has served as a finance and accounting professional holding executive level positions with corporations in diverse industries since 1995.
TR has held leadership positions with Fortune 500 and International 1000 organizations. He also served as CFO for a high-technology start-up enterprise within Accenture, LLP, held several foreign-based positions in the Consumer Packaged Goods industry including VP of Finance/Controller for European Operations, and began his career as an auditor for the "Big Four" public accounting firm of KPMG Peat Marwick. More recently, TR held the position of CFO for a Silicon Valley based startup and has previously served as Chief Business Officer, Vice President of Finance, and Vice President of Federal Compliance for fully accredited international university and private college systems. His financial consulting experiences include advising start-up and small to mid-market organizations optimize their financial strength and business planning processes.
TR earned his Bachelors of Arts (BA) degree from Augustana College (Illinois) with a double major in Accounting and Business Administration and a Computer Science minor, and his Masters of Management (MBA) degree from Northwestern University's J.L. Kellogg Graduate School of Business with a triple major in Finance, Marketing and International Business. He earned a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certificate in 1986 conferred by the state of Illinois.
TR has previously served in an ex officio capacity on several university advisory boards of trustees and in board positions for the following non-profit organizations: Christian Credit Counselors (Audit & Finance Committee), Media Arts of San Diego & San Diego Latino Film Festival (Board Treasurer), Ashford Education Foundation (Executive Director) and the Shadow Mountain Community Church Deacon Board.
